Logistics at Sabadell’s Hospital

TST has developed the perfect product to meet our needs.

Rosa García, R&D Director at HLL

HLL, a hospital supply chain management company, has ordered to TST the development of the SupplyBox, a product designed to optimize healthcare logistics.

Problem

In order to optimize the stock of medicines and consumables articles in the hospital, it is necessary to carry out a precise control of their consumption and refill the products before thay run out. To avoid interfering with the care provided to patients, an intuitive and simple to use system is needed, which allows nurses and hospital staff to make orders to the store simply and quickly.

Solution

TST has developed for HLL a product called SupplyBox, a kind of a mailbox with embedded communication technology from TST. The SupplyBox incorporates a NFC reader developed by TST that recognizes medicament tags that nurses insert when an article is about to expire. The SupplyBox extracts the data from the NFC tag and automatically makes a replacement order to HLL’s software managing the logistics in the warehouse. Communication between the SupplyBox and HLL’s ERP server is done via Ethernet, Wi-Fi or UTMS.

The system is simple to use because hospital staff only have to insert a card in the SupplyBox when they want to make an order. Through a LED, the SupplyBox confirms the correct reading of the card and that the order has reached the central server.

At Sabadell’s Hospital 80 SupplyBox have been installed on the different floors. These devices are managed through a web interface also developed by TST, that provides access to the configuration and statistics of each SupplyBox.
