Design and development of an extensible platform for environmental intelligent sensor networks applied to the control and optimization of water resources. The project has developed a new platform, highly scalable to handle massive networks and able to sustain, in the long-term, several millions of sensors and actuators (such as relays or remote operated switches).
In addition, it enables to distribute the logic which affects sensors on a distributed model, which allows the independent operation of isolated systems without connection to central control systems. A core middleware layer has been designed. This entity receives and process information from sensors, and is linked to external applications.
The project involves the analysis, design and implementation of an intelligent sensor and gateway network, which acts as an interface between sensors and middleware.
