Smart Cities

World population increasingly lives in urban areas, originating larger cities that are difficult to manage efficiently. The challenge for the government in this scenario is to maintain or even increase the quality of the public services offered to its citizens, therefore it is necessary to apply technologies that allows a better management and transparency of the urban infrastructures, i.e. street lighting, water canalization systems, public transportation and so on. Below we show several applications for Smart Cities. If you don’t find here a solution for your application, please contact us.

TST offers its TSmarT communications platform to develop applications for monitoring and remote control in smart cities. We show examples of several applications:

  • Street Lighting
  • Smart parking
  • Supervision of water canalization
  • Air quality measurement
  • Interactive communication with citizens

Street Lighting

It consists on the remote control of each light within the city, turning them on and off, regulating the current flow to adjust the illumination level, detecting when the lamp is broken and so on . Thanks to these systems, electrical energy consumption can be significantly reduced. Read more...

Smart parking

In order to find faster a place to park and to reduce C02 emissions to the atmosphere, TST technology allows to bury ferromagnetic sensors integrated with the TSmoTe under the asphalt, which detect the presence of vehicles parked over them and they communicate whether the place is free or not to a central server. Citizens access parking information via web, which is optimized for mobile phones, or through informative panels at street crossings. Read more...

Supervision of water canalization

In order to detect immediately water leaks, it is possible to install pressure sensors i, flow meters and other equipment n the water pipes and collect all the data in a central server. Thus the city can react immediately in case of faults.

Air quality measurement

Urban areas use wireless sensor networks to control concentration of CO, CO2, NO2 and others gases in the atmosphere. TST offers TSmoTe devices ready to connect to industrial gases sensors.

Interactive communication with citizens

Within the Smart Cities concept , technologies to supervise and control urban infrastructures are necessary, as well as technologies to communicate with the citizenship. TST offers NFC and Bluetooth based systems to achieve that.

TST has installed in Santander a network of 15 Bluetooth access points that allows the City Council to inform citizens about, events, activities and other current municipal issues. Several informative campaigns have been carried out, with more than 140,000 downloads per year.
