Monitoring & Control
W
ireless meshed networks based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard like ZigBee or others enable the design and implementatin of robust and reliable systems
for monitoring and control applications in many different sectors. This kind of networks are redundant in themselves, because each node has several links to its neighbours. When a conection fails, either due to obstacles in the propagation path or to interferences with other wireless systems, data is automatically sent over alternative pathways to the final destination. Each additional node gives stability to the network, because it offers an additional routing alternative to its neighbours. The network range also increases with each node, covering large extension areas.
Sensor networks can gather data from any kind of sensor, while automation systems such as lighting or access control can be managed over remote controlled relais. Meshed networks can be applied in many sectors:
Building automation: Meter reading, lighting control, home automation.
Industry: Monitoring in process and discrete industries.
Security: Border control, perimeter monitoring, access control.
Healthcare: Patient monitoring, elderly monitoring.
Environment: Precission agriculture, watering control, fire detection.
Logistic: Cold chain monitoring.
